Editorial Policy

Rochdale Insider is informed and approachable. “Inside track” means useful public context that helps readers understand a local choice; it does not imply privileged access, private sources or special relationships with businesses or institutions.

What we cover

We publish local business features, restaurant recommendations, shopping guides, attractions and practical service information. We use places, venues and institutions when they genuinely help answer the reader’s question, not simply to insert familiar names.

Rochdale town and the wider borough

Rochdale town centre is distinct from the Metropolitan Borough of Rochdale. Heywood, Littleborough, Milnrow and Middleton are separate towns or areas with their own centres and local context. Within Rochdale town, neighbourhoods such as Spotland, Deeplish, Bamford, Wardleworth, Newbold and Castleton also differ. We name the relevant place and do not assume that a service covers the whole borough.

We distinguish regional attractions by location: Hollingworth Lake is near Littleborough, Queen’s Park is in Heywood, and the East Lancashire Railway is a regional day-trip option rather than a town-centre Rochdale attraction. Where we cover the wider borough, we label locations clearly.

Sources and changing information

We aim to use reliable sources close to the subject, such as Rochdale Borough Council, the business, venue, event organiser, transport operator or public service concerned. Business status, opening hours, transport, event programmes, venue arrangements, market details and public-service information can change. We check current details where practical and encourage readers to confirm important information directly.

We do not invent businesses, addresses, prices, reviews, statistics, rankings, dates or service coverage. We distinguish current operations from historical associations and completed projects from proposals. We avoid unsupported claims about crime, property prices, flood risk, specific wildlife sightings or individual communities.

Recommendations and commercial relationships

A listing or recommendation is not automatically paid for or endorsed. If content is sponsored or has another commercial relationship, we will identify it clearly. Commercial arrangements do not in themselves determine our editorial view. Our guides help readers compare options; they do not guarantee that a particular choice is best for everyone.

Corrections and updates

If you spot an error, email [email protected] with the page address, the detail in question and, if possible, a reliable source. We review correction requests and update material errors where appropriate. Minor edits may be made without a separate note; for a substantial correction, we may add an editorial note to the page.

A request from a business or individual does not automatically require us to remove content. We consider accuracy, relevance, privacy, safety and the public interest. We do not publish private personal information or unverified allegations about individuals.

Scope and limitations

Our guides are selective, not a complete directory of every business, service, attraction or event in Rochdale or the wider borough. Inclusion does not guarantee quality or availability, and absence does not imply criticism. Confirm important details with the organisation concerned.
